Here are the results of the salary survey I have done over the last few weeks. There were 111 usable responses and only a handful that did not have enough information to be reported. Thanks to everyone for your responses. If additional people would like to respond I will continue to gather information and post any new responses given. The abbreviations are as follows: Institution: A=Academic I=Industry G=Government Salary: A plus after the salary means they are paid overtime/on-call or have extra bonuses available including company stock options etc. Instuments: A=Analyzer S=Sorter C=Confocal/Image I have done my best here, some people added additional machines such as DNA sequencers or other molecular devices. I should have had a category for other but didn't think about it until I was over halfway through the compilation and didn't have time to backtrack. Sorry to those of you who have additional responsibilities I did not document. Also, in some cases the machines stated are what is in the lab, not necessarily what the person is responsible for (judging from the wording in many responses). Throughout: ND=No Data Given For those of you that responded and did not include your salary, I did not include you in the results. The idea of the survey is to find out what others in the field are earning and to therefore have some firm ground to stand on in salary negotiations etc. Therefore, responses without salary information are meaningless. If anyone wants information on what the geographic breakdown is e-mail and I will try to help. Also if anyone would like a copy sent to them via an e-mail attachment let me know. If I get several responses for this I will send an attached copy to the listserve. As always I cannot verify any information given. All results are reported as given to me (hopefully there are no typo's). Please go to the following link to see the survey results: http://www.pictureperfect.www-sites.net/images/bsnewsom/survey.jpg
