  • Here’s what’s inside the July issue of CAP TODAY:

Labs in thick of transplant testing
Within each type of transplantation therapy, newer methods are bidding to effect major changes, even for bone marrow, the youngest sibling of the transplant family. "In transplantation, everything is in shades of gray," says Robert Bray, PhD.

Staying a step ahead of nosocomial infections
The rate of nosocomial infections in U.S. health care institutions is rising, but infection control experts are now realizing the microbiology laboratory can play a central role in addressing this problem. If laboratory data are used appropriately, "I think we can eliminate about half of nosocomial infections," says Lance Peterson, MD.

    Survey of chemistry analyzers
CAP TODAY presents 22 instruments in its 1999 survey of chemistry analyzers.
