Advice Needed on Flow tech position.

To All:

I have an individual who just completed their Post Doctoral training in
immunology who would like to apply for a position in my lab as a
technologist to gain experience in the clinical realm.  He has a couple of
years of flow work with both the Calibur and FacStar plus during the last
few years of training and has been highly interested in pursuing a carreer
in Flow.

Would it be a disservice to this person to allow them to hire on as a
technologist?

Would this "hurt" their carreer line as a Ph.D.?

Any opinions on this matter would be helpful.
