Service Contracts

I was wondering if anyone could share their experiences with
multi instrument service contract discounts by the
manufacturers. Are your discounts prorated on the number of
instruments under contract or do you get a flat rate multi instrument
discount. How are "multi instruments" defined in your contracts? I
ask these questions because of a recent problem we had with our BD
service contracts. I was always under the impression that if you had
more than one instrument on contract you got a 10% discount. BD is
telling me that two "systems" get a 5% discount and more than two
"systems" get a 10% discount. They are defining a system in a very
different way from an instrument. In my case they are grouping a
FACscan, FACSloader, and a FACSprep as one system even though I am
being charged separate contract prices for the scan/loader and the
prep. This doesn't seem to be fair but maybe that's just the way it
is, however, I would appreciate hearing what other people's
experiences are, regardless of manufacturer. Thanks for your help!
Joanne
