Dear Takayuki, We routinely check dendritic - like cells obtained by culture of human monocytes for an increased expression of HLA-DR and CD1a and a decreased expression of CD14. The following papers may be helpful: Sallusto F. and Lanzavecchia A. (1994), Journal of Experimental Medicine 179, 1109-1118 Reutter K. et al. (1997), Toxicology in Vitro 11, 619-626 Best regards, Pierre *************************************************************************** ******** Dr. Pierre Aeby Cosmital SA Phone: +41 (0)26 435 25 55 Route de Chesalles 21 Fax: +41 (0)26 435 26 66 1723 Marly E-mail: paeby@cosmital.ch Switzerland Original message: Dear colleagues; I am now treating monocytes with various cytekines to establish dendritic cells. I would like to know what change occur after the treatment on the surface of cells. However, because of big change of cell size and granurality, direct comparison between surface molecules is impossible. For example whether or not HLA-DR is upregulated is hard to say. Could someone advise me with regard to this. I appreciate your help.
