Dear All:

Microparticle analysis and especially platelet microparticles analysis have become a major topic of interest in Hemostasis during the past few years.
A flow cytometry method was described and published as a letter to the Editor in Thrombosis and Haemostasis, I believe in the 1998 December issue. The first author was V. Combes. Among the other authors: F. Dignat-George, J. Sampol.
Their method is quite easy. It emphasizes the preanalytical variables, I mean the sample preparation which is a major step in the type of assay. They applied their method to platelet microparticles. They also worked on endothelial cell microparticles which is their expertise.
You may contact Professor Francoise Dignat-George or Professor José Sampol at jsampol@ap-hm.fr

In addition, the GEHT in France (Study Group on Haemostasis and Thrombosis) (www.geht.org) has initiated a multicentric study in France based upon this published method. You also may want to visit their site. The site is in French language. However I can help those of you who would be interested in case some of you would need some translation.

At BioCytex, we have also worked (with Professors Dignat-George and Sampol) on these microparticle assays. We do have some data and some protocols which we could pull out of our lab books. The best would be to contact Philippe Poncelet, Director R&D at BioCytex ( biocytex@biocytex.com ). As you know Philippe, he would be delighted to help.

Sincerely,

Michel Canton, PharmD
