Re: CTL assays

CD8+ T cells can have a number of effector functions. Among these are IFNg
secretion and lytic activity. It is currently common to measure IFNg
secretion at the single cell level, using intracellular staining or
ELISpot. However, there is not a commonly used assay for detecting lytic
activity at the single cell level, so it is not really known if IFNg
production directly indicates lytic activity.

Of course, some people mean CTLp's, or even CD8+ T cells when they say
CTLs, so the aforementioned assays may be just what you need.
