Hello Dennis,

If your CellQuest files have "changed" to PC files you can change them back
to CellQuest format with ResEdit. Just open ResEdit and then Get
File/Folder info for those PC files that were CellQuest files and
change the Type to BDLM and the Creator to BDLY.

It is hard work if you have to change many files, let us hope that
somebody has a better idea.

I have once had a client that came crying to me that her CellQuest data
is gone.. the problem was that her data on a FUJI ZIP disk had lost its
type and creator. It happened with G3Mac CellQuest 3.1 and OS 8.5.1. I
think the problem is with some incompatibility with the PC reader and ZIP
formatting.

The other problem.. These weird system folders on ZIP disks, I have also
seen these. All data is usually on those kind of ZIPs but it is not in
their original folders. I usually fish all the data to my HD and then
format the ZIP and put the data back. The problem has never come back to
the reformatted ZIP. (don't copy the weird system folders)

Best wishes,

PS. You could also burn Mac/ISO hybrid CDs with your toaster and in that
way save the HFS-format on the Mac half of the CD but all the data
would still be readable also with PC on the other half of the CD.
