Re: CD-RW Drives

Hi,

I recently bought a LaCie(Yamaha) CD writer. It was bundled with Toast,
which allows you to create multisession CDs for use on mac or PC
platforms. To do so (using toast) I need to use the ISO 9660 standard, and
use the CDROM-XA option. Toast optionally allows you to use EITHER mac
names, windows name (Joliet Extensions) or DOS style 8.3 (default for
cross-platform).

You need a CD driver in your system that recognises CDROM-XA, and it might
be worth checking to see if your writer is producing this format, and that
your macs have a recent version of the CD or CD/DVD driver.

ps I bought a re-writable drive as well, but was surprised at the ease of
use of multisession discs, and can't see the need for rewritables locally
where the primary use is transportable archiving (10 full "permanent"
multisession CD's for the price of one rewritable).
