Sorting Safety

I know this had been a thread before but I wanted to see if there are any
more responses. The question is about the sorting of human material, PB, BM
and other. What precautions do people take besides general gowning and
gloving? Do you wear eye or face shields? Do you require that the door is
closed if it is adjoined to another lab? Does anyone have any government
standards for using human blood products in a potentially aerosolizing
manner?

The second question is will you sort a sample that has a know bloodborne
pathogen such as HIV or Hep C or E. Although HIV is not easily transmittable
through aerosols Hep C and Hep E are know to be highly transferrable through
aerosols and require a low dose for infection. Does anyone have any
guidelines or opinions?

Any responses will be appreciated.
