Good question.  I've wondered about this too and found that within Adobe
(3.0) I can "select all" and through the windows clip-board (copy-paste) I
can place the text into WPerfect (Word do as well).  However, it comes with
the price of a total loss of font and formatting as it all comes up in your
default font.  If you just want the text, short of retyping it all, this
will work.  

If you want all the PDF bells and whistles, then Adobe makes mention on
their web page of an application called "Adobe Exchange".    I have no idea
how this works.
