Colleagues:
I am proud to tell you that the Cytometry CD-ROM series has survived to
Volume 4 - our original target to complete the series. By tradition, this
message will be placed as the last mesage in the Cytometry email CURRENT
DISCUSSION on the CD.

The vast expansion of the WEB has brought with it many advantages and
problems. Almost everyone now has access to the WEB - it is part of our
lives - how did we live without it? When we first conceived this concept in
1995, lots of people wondered (aloud) why we would do such a thing! After 4
CDs, I too wonder aloud why my lab goes through chaos every few months to
get this material published in a professional manner. I want to publically
achnowledge Monica Shively's effort in managing the entire production
process for the last 2 CDs. It's really a lot of work. Thanks Monica and
the Purdue team who do this labor of love. Everyone in the lab contributes
- mostly willingly!! Thanks also to the sponsors who have continuously
supported this effort.

We are looking for new ideas - new material, and feedback. We don't know if
we will do another cytometry disk anytime soon....

There is a possibility that the production will be taken over by a
publishing organization - and expanded in content and target audience.
Whatever happens, we have really appreciated the support you, the cytometry
community have given to this crazy experiment we undertook.....one
afternoon..... after...... well never mind...

This disc is Guest Edited by the President-Elect of ISAC Dr. James Watson.
It will be distributed to all attendees at the Congress in February 1998.
Please make sure you get a copy at the meeting. The price is right (free)
and if you don't have a computer, you can use the disk as a beer-mat in the
Busy-Bee. A number of societies have offered to distribute copies to their
members. Again, this disc is a great companion to students, staff and
faculty with teaching slides, images, discussions and workshop material.

Enjoy it - keep this one with the old MDADS, FACS IV, 8 inch diskdrives and
other memorabilia - it may become a collectors item....

Thanks a lot, and adios!
Paul
