Dichroics are available with >95% transmission at 488 and >95% reflectance
in the UV; I and others have used them to split the UV and blue output from
dual-wavelength He-Cd lasers. Since the 488 output is typically
substantially greater than the UV output in dual-wavelength operation of an
argon laser, measuring what passes through the dichroic will probably give
you a good approximation of the 488 nm output. For the UV, you probably
want to look at a beam reflected off at least two such dichroics; three or
four might be better. You can calculate the losses from the curves provided
by the manufacturer (I got my dichroics from Omega).

Also remember that diode power meters are much less sensitive to UV than to
488, while thermal power meters, which used to be what was supplied with big
lasers, are approximately equally sensitive.
