We provide services to more than 4,000 oncologists, pathologists and surgeons at almost 1,400 U.S. hospitals. We are currently seeking highly motivated individuals for our Flow Cytometry Laboratory located in Manhattan, New York. Qualified candidates must possess excellent technical, verbal and written communication skills; the ability to function as part of a team is a must. The following positions are currently available: Flow Cytometry Technologists (evening and night shifts) Duties: Prepare blood, bone marrow, tissue, and cellular fluids for 2,3,and 4 color immunophenotyping and perform data acquisition and analysis. Troubleshoot instrument and operation problems and maintain quality control records. Participate in new assay development. Cross-training in DNA/cell cycle analysis is also required. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in the biological sciences or related fields, with at least 2 years experience in the analysis of leukemia and lymphoma (3 color preferred). Must be "time" flexible to work other shifts and weekends when necessary. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Fresh/Frozen Specimen Preparation Laboratory Supervisor (day shift) Duties: Supervise and participate in the preparation of specimens for flow cytometry, cytogenetics, histology, and immunohistochemistry. Oversee daily operations, maintain protocols and quality control records. Supervise performance, scheduling and training of staff. Qualifications: Minimum BS degree in Medical Technology with at least 2 years supervisory experience and knowledge of specimen preparation techniques and quality control regulations (NYS, OSHA, CLIA, CAP, etc.). Experience with Coulter hematology instruments (Microdiff II) is preferred. Prior flow cytometry experience is a plus. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Fresh/Frozen Specimen Preparation Technician Duties: Handles all fresh/frozen specimens for flow cytometry, cytogenetics, histology, and immunohistochemistry. Prepares specimens for testing using appropriate SOPs for specimen handling. Qualifications: Minimum 2 years of technical school in lab medicine or a related field. Two years of progressive histology or pathology laboratory experience is preferred. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Microtomist / Histotechnician Duties: Perform high quality and quantity sectioning of paraffin and frozen tissue specimens as submitted to IMPATH for immunohistochemical studies, in-situ hybridization, DNA analysis and/or diagnosis. Qualifications: Minimum 2 years college or equivalent experience in histology. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ IMPATH is located in the prestigious upper east side of Manhattan and will be moving to new, larger facilities in January 1998. The laboratory is currently equipped with one FACSCalibur, one FACSORT, and four XL-MCL flow cytometers (we will be adding several new cytometers in our new facility).
