Back in the days when I used to work with Lysys on a FACStarPlus I played a little with the K-S test, and came to the conclusion that it had dubious utility at best. As far as I can recall 8 years later, the K-S test "always" reported a significant difference between histograms, even when they were derived from two successive runs of the same sample tube. Not the kind of result you really want! A similar point is made by Cox et al, Cytometry 9:291-298 (1988), who propose some alternative methods. I would be interested to hear of other flowers impressions of the suitability of this test or others as applied to flow data. Regards, Andrew.
