Dear all

Thank you to all who replied to my questions, especially those who were able
to supply references.

For your information:

The majority of respondents said that ethanol fixed cells should be fine for
cell cycle analysis if held at ambient temperature in transit; one said that
using ice would be better and one suggested an alternative fixative.

The answers from respondents to the question of DNA content of normal
lymphocytes were more variable; from 3 to 8 pg/cell; presumably reflecting
different methods of measuring DNA content? Alternatives proposed by some
respondents were very interesting and we are now investigating those
approaches.

Also; Tom Frey please note; one of eight DNA content restpondents did reply in
"modern units", giving a value of 3.3 e+9 base pairs per cell.

Thanks again for all your help
