Dear All, Saw a weird one yesterday - a routine 3/4/8/19/45 screen on a suspected Kala Azar (aka - Leishmaniasis) that appeared to show the normal B cells picking up FITC conjugates (by one decad more than a normal specimen) but not PE or PE-CY5. This occured with IgG1, 2a & 2b classes, whether isotypic or specific. The bone marrow I ran today showed it was actually a Pre-B leuk which fitted into the 5% 45weak/19+ cells I picked up in the peripheral screen. The main point is - this FITC binding with the (normal & leukaemic) B cells had disappeared when processing the BM, probably due to the washing steps. Obviously it's something in the plasma of this kid - but what ? I've never seen anything "specifically" picking up FITC before Any Ideas Wal Sharp SQU Oman
