MoFlo® Performance Results
"Performance" for this unique research flow cytometer
means the highest purity, the greatest yield, the best
sensitivity and the best CVs, all at speeds previously
unattainable. It also means exciting new features like
4Way sorting, MixedMode sorting, software compensation
and more. The reasons for this superior performance are
easy to see. This groundbreaking instrument incorporates
the latest electronics, the best optical design, and the
most robust fluidics available anywhere. Shattering the paradigm of flow
cytometers developed in the 70s, it is an instrument
without peer, an instrument that in any head-to-head
comparison of actual performance far exceeds even
the closest competition.
Performance You Can See
MoFlo’s Performance is easy to see. The quality control
requirements each unit must meet before shipment and
after installation include:
(These results are achieved in 1, 2, or 3
laser configurations using non-rectangular gates.)

Sensitivity
MoFlo's unique fluorescence collection optics and triple
pinholes, combined with a stream-in-air flow produces sensitivities
rivaling those of cuvette systems. A mixture of eight reference
beads was analyzed on a standard MoFlo prior to shipment. The
following results speak for themselves:
Purity
All flow cytometers boast impressive purity specifications.
Only the MoFlo MLS is capable of generating outstanding purity
results such as these at 25,000 events/second:
Recovery/Yield
MoFlo's electronics technology allows you to increase speed
without compromising recovery and yield, making the customary
problem of turning up the sort speed only to degrade recovery
and yield a problem of the past. In addition, MoFlo's unique
MixedMode sorting allows you to capture nearly 100 % of your
positive cells by sorting single cells into a purity tube, while
directing all aborts into a recovery tube.
CVs
When multiple lasers are focused through a single optical
element, only one beam can traverse the optical center of the
lens. The other beam shapes are necessarily compromised. This
situation is best seen by noting the larger CVs generated by
the off-axis beam vs. the on-axis beam. The MoFlo eliminates
this frustrating situation by using separate optical elements
for each beam. All beams are spatially separated and optically
optimized. The results are clear:
