CD22
B CELLS
The CD22 (B3) antigen is a transmembrane glycoprotein of the immunoglobulin superfamily. It is likely to be expressed as two different isoforms: the a form (130 kDa) and the b form (140 kDa). It is a B cell restricted antigen expressed in the cytoplasm of B cell progenitors and on the surface of mature B cells. CD22 expression is lost after B cell activation prior to the plasma cell stage. It is absent from peripheral blood T cells, granulocytes, monocytes. HD239 antibody binds to an epitope located within the first Ig-like domain of CD22 antigen. It was characterized during the Fourth International Workshop on Human Leukocyte Differentiation Antigens.
