Frequency distribution of signal to cut-off values on a group of samples that were tested using the Bio-Rad method and another FDA-licensed HIV-1/2 EIA. Note that the Bio-Rad assay clearly differentiates positive from negative samples, with the bulk of negatives clustering around .1 to .2 signal to cut-off. With the Bio-Rad assay, positives tend to be strongly reactive with high signal to cut-off ration.
