The Elite Lister card is plugged into an ISA slot in the PC and if you
want to bite-the-bullet and configure a third party PC to work with this
Card you would be wise to know the following important characteristics
of the Lister Card :
Interupt:
IRQ 7
Memory mapped Data acquisition space base address:
CC00:0000 (4 kbytes from this address)
It is not a good idea to try to change these settings because the Elite
DOS software will not then work....EVER.
Any PC board that maps to these settings is going to potentially have
problems. Default Printer IRQ settings are usually configured to IRQ 7
but rarely cause problems because Interupt printing is rarely used.
Sound Cards:
...are notorious for being default configured to IRQ7.....Reconfigure
these to something else (IRQ5?).
Ethernet cards:
...usually try to use IRQ5....OOer, find another one.
Video cards:
....they can sometimes map to the Lister card Memory Mapped address at
CC00:0000. You can usually specifically EXCLUDE memory addresses from
DOS set up in the Config.sys and Autoexec.bat DOS configuration files.
Refer to your Video card driver documentation and READ.ME files on the
driver disks.
Armed with this information, any good University or Institute computer
techie should be able to help sort out the mess.
ACS wrote the Elite-for-Windows software and we didn't use the lister
card interupts so there are no interupt clashes when using our software.
