Do you want to grow the cells afterwards or just not fix them? 7AAD might
do the trick but I dont think cells will live. Hoechst 33342 is the only
vital DNA dye I know but this would need a separate UV laser. Could be
worth a look in the Molecular Probes catalog they have tons of DNA dyes
most of which have silly names.
