Hi Sunny,
according to the molecular probes hand book streptavidin has a binding
motif for some adhesion molecules, avidin binds to charged molecules,
whereas they sell a trademarked charge-free motif-free version of avidin
called (I think) Neutralite avidin, they do sell it conjugated to various
dyes and it might be worth your while to try some, but you could try
standard avidin first, which though it might have a higher general
background, shouldn't have elevated levels on the same cells as
streptavidin (and its cheaper)
