I successfully downloaded the database yesterday, here is what
I did:
$ ftp balrog.nci.nih.gov
<some connection messages>
ftp>anonymous
Password:<My E-Mail address as password>
<here I got almost a screenful of information, including the
directory "LDAD">
ftp> cd ldad
("cd LDAD" also works from my machine)
ftp> dir
<file list... (didn't write down all the details)>
ftp> bin
ftp> mget *.*
ftp> bye
The files I received are:
batquery.com
install.bat
ldadarc.lzh
lharc.exe
readme
readme.mac
(These all appear in capitals on the balrog machine)
The "readme" file tells what to do; basically put all the
above files in a special directory, cd to there and run
the "install" batch file.
I have extracted the files using the above routine, and
verified that the system does run, but have not tried to do
any real work with it yet.
Best of luck!
