We also had problems discriminating bacteria and air bubbles. We now use
de-gassing the sheath-tank after filling it by connecting the sheath bottle
with the waste bottle ( you need a separate tube ), vacuuming and
tapping the bottle with a piece of wood on the bottom, or tapping on the
floor. You can see a lot of air bubbles escaping ( especially with saline
solutions you need the waste tank as a reservoir, because a lot of foam is
produced! ).
