The Thrombin Receptor (60 to 80 Kda) is expressed on a variety of cells including platelets and endothelium. The receptor is a substrate of thrombin and has been shown to play a role in the activation of platelets. The SPAN 12 antibody recognizes an epitope on the receptor that spans the thrombin cleavage site. It binds to intact receptors, but not cleaved ones. SPAN 12 inhibits thrombin-induced receptor activation at reduced thrombin concentrations. It can be used in flow cytometry. The WEDE 15 antibody recognizes an epitope on the receptor, distant from the N-terminal thrombin cleavage site (WEDEE). It reacts with intact and cleaved receptors.WEDE 15 can be used in cytometry, immunoprecipitation and Western blot analysis.
