This antibody reacts with members of a new family of p58 molecules. These molecules are expressed on human NK cells and behave as negative signaling receptors for certain HLA class I molecules presented by encountered cells. The EB6 epitope is present on the p58 molecules that are receptors for HLA-Cw4 and Cw4-related alleles. EB6 antibody is specific for a subpopulation of NK cells. The size of this population varies in different donors. This antibody can enable the lysis by human NK Clones of otherwise lysis-protected targets carrying HLA-Cw4 or a related allele.
