Bromodeoxyuridine (BrdU) is a thymidine analog and is incorporated into DNA specifically during the S-phase of the cell cycle. The 2B1 monoclonal antibody recognizes bromodeoxyuridine incorporated into nuclei. It reacts with iododeoxyuridine and bromouridine, but does not react with thymidine. This antibody has been used in research studies of DNA replication, DNA synthesis measured by flow cytometry, kinetic analysis of cell cycle and human tumor proliferation. 2B1 antibody is also suitable for immunohistochemistry on both frozen and paraffin-embedded tissue sections.
