The CD126 antigen is the human IL-6 receptor a chain (gp80). In peripheral blood it is detectable on monocytes, on granulocytes, and on CD4+ T lymphocytes. This antigen is also expressed by epithelial cells. M91 antibody recognizes membrane and soluble form of IL-6.R a chain. It binds to the amino terminal immunoglobulin domain of IL-6.R. It binds to IL-6/IL-6.R complexes and IL-6/IL-6R/gp130 complexes. It is a non-blocking antibody. It is suitable for Western blot. M91 antibody was evaluated during the Fifth International Workshop on Human Leukocyte Differentiation Antigens.
