The CD89 antigen (FcaR) is a transmembrane glycoprotein with an extracellular part composed of two Ig superfamily domains.Five sites for N-glycosylation are present. The molecular weight of the molecule is 50-75 kDa.The FcaR is the receptor for soluble IgA1 or IgA2.This antigen is restricted to cells of myelomonocytic lineage. Its expression begins at the promyelocyte differentiation stage. In peripheral blood, A3 antibody is highly reactive with neutrophils, monocytes and eosinophils.CD3+ T cells, CD19+ B cells and CD57+ Natural Killer (NK) cells are negative for A3 antibody labeling.A3 antibody was evaluated during the Fifth International Workshop on Human Leukocyte Differentiation Antigens.
