The CDw65 antigen is similar to the carbohydrate structure(s) recognized by CD15 antibodies. It is a type II chain fucoganglioside involving the oligosaccharide sequence : NeuAca2 — 3Galb1 — 4GlcNacb1 — 3Galb1 — 4GlcNac (Fuca1-3)b1 — 3Galb -. Granulocytes are CDw65 positive and monocytes are weakly positive and weakly expressed by monocytes. It does not react with T and B cells. This antibody was evaluated during the Third International Workshop on Human Leukocyte Differentiation Antigens.
