The CD51 antigen is the 140 kDa integrin aV-chain, consisting of a disulfide-linked subunit of 125 kDa and a smaller one of 25 kDa, non-covalently associated with the integrin b3 chain also known as GPIIIa or CD61 molecule. This complex is known as the vitronectin, the fibrinogen and the von Willebrand's factor receptor. It is expressed by platelets and megakaryocytes, by some B cells and by endothelial cells. AMF7 antibody is weakly blocking. 69-6-5 is a strongly blocking antibody in cell antigen assays. AMF7 antibody was evaluated during the Fifth International Workshop on Human Leukocyte Differentiation Antigens.
