The CD50 antigen is a 124 kDa molecule expressed by leukocytes and a wide variety of cells, but not by endothelial cells, platelets or erythrocytes. It is known as the InterCellular Adhesion Molecule-3 (ICAM-3) and interacts with LFA-1 in cellular adhesion. The HP2/19 antibody blocks adhesion which is directly or indirectly mediated by ICAM-3. This antibody is co-stimulating in CD3-dependent proliferation. HP2/19 antibody was evaluated during the Fifth International Workshop on Human Leukocyte Differentiation Antigens.
