The CD36 antigen is a single membrane glycoprotein with a molecular weight of 90 kDa. It mediates the adherence of platelets to thrombospondin and collagen. This molecule is found on platelets, endothelial cells, monocytes, and some human tumor cell lines. FA6-152 monoclonal antibody binds to both adult and fetal monocytes, platelets and reticulocytes but does not react with lymphocytes and granulocytes. It is a very early marker of erythroid differentiation. FA6.152 antibody was evaluated during the Fifth International Workshop on Human Leukocyte Differentiation Antigens.
