The CD35 antigen exists as four different allotypes with molecular weight s of 160, 190, 220 and 250 kDa. It is known as the Complement Receptor type one (CR1) with affinity to C3b, C4b and iC3b. It is expressed by granulocytes (except basophils), B cells, monocytes, some Natural Killer (NK) cells and erythrocytes. J3D3 inhibits CR1-mediated decay of cells bound to the alternative and classical pathway to C3-convertase sites. It also inhibits C3b dependent rosette formation with lymphocytes. J3D3 antibody was evaluated during the Fourth International Workshop on Human Leukocyte Differentiation Antigens.
