FcgRII proteins exist as six potential isoforms encoded by three genes, designated as A, B, and C. The molecular weight of these isoforms are relatively constant, between 40-43 kDa. FcgRIIA and FcgRIIC are similar but not identical in their extracellular domains and have identical transmembrane and cytoplasmic sequences.FcgRIIB is different for its cytoplasmic sequence.Monocytes carry all forms of FcgRII, neutrophils carry FcgRIIA and C but B lymphocytes only express FcgRIIB forms. 2E1 antibody recognizes all the antigen isoforms. It was evaluated during the Third International Workshop on Human Leukocyte Differentiation Antigens.
