The CD8b polypeptidic molecule is one of the two chains that can be expressed in the CD8 dimer. The a and b glycoproteins have similar molecular weights of 32-34 kDa each. The 5F2 antibody reacts with ab+ TCR, CD8+ T cells, which express CD8 ab dimers. It is not reactive with gd+ TCR, CD8+ T cells and CD8+ NK cells which exclusively express the CD8 aa dimer. 5F2 antibody was evaluated during the Fifth International Workshop on Human Leukocyte Differentiation Antigens.
