The CD6 antigen is a single-chain glycoprotein with a molecular weight of 130 kDa which is homologous to CD5 and to the macrophage scavenger receptor. It is found on a peripheral blood T cell subset. It is also present on most thymocytes. These monoclonal antibodies do not inhibit sheep erythrocyte rosetting. They do not induce antigenic modulation and are mitogen-ineffective. SPVL14 antibody was evaluated during the Second International Workshop on Human Leukocyte Differentiation Antigens.
