The CD23 (B6) antigen is a transmembrane glycoprotein spatially associated with MHC Class II antigen. It has a molecular weight of 45 kDa. It is the low affinity receptor (FceRII) found on few peripheral blood mononuclear cells. It is expressed on a small percentage of resting B cells from peripheral blood or lymphoid tissue and on a much larger percentage of B cells following mitogen or antigen activation. The HD50 (B6) antibody was characterized during the Third International Workshop on Human Leukocyte Differentiation Antigens.
