Coulter EPICS XL

Flow Cytometry System

EPICS XL

This remarkable new instrument combines the analysis power of a research-grade flow cytometer with the compactness, speed and ergonomics of a mainstream, hands-off clinical analyzer.

The XL features the capability to analyze up to 4 simultaneous colors of immunofluorescence as well as perform a variety of other multi-color applications such as multi-parametric DNA analysis, platelet studies, reticulocyte enumeration and cell physiologic and kinetic measurements.

Today's application can be performed in walkaway fashion with the inclusion of the Multi Carousel Loader (MCL). Achieving sample throughput of up to 100 samples per hour, the MCL is an integrated autoloader which scans barcodes, mixes and aspirates prepared samples. Triple barcoding of the sample, tube position and carousel number ensures positive sample identification from sample introduction to final reporting.

The XL design utilizes the very latest in electronic and computational power. It is the first cytometer to offer state-of-the-art Digital Signal Processing for reliable linearity and drift-free amplification, advanced transputer processing for highly efficient instrument control and signal processing as well as crystal clear fiber optic communication between the sensor and workstation components. The instrument is self-contained and biohazard safe yet provides the user with the flexibility to change optical filter elements for versatility in a research setting. Minimum user maintenance is required due to stable, fixed alignment optics and comprehensive self-diagnostic routines.

In addition, the system offers data acquisition, display and analysis in a 100% IBM PC-compatible Pentium 90 computing environment with 16 MB of RAM. Its user-friendly, performance-oriented software provides a broad complement of analysis tools to meet demanding clinical and research applications.

The XL is available in three and four-color configurations, with or without the Multi Carousel Loader. Ask your Coulter representative about the configuration that best meets your analysis and budget needs.
