Policies and Fact Sheet for the Facility

Director: Dr. Michael E. Sieracki
Instrument Specialist: Terry L. Cucci

  1. The facility is normally used on a per week basis. Included in the week is full use of the facility plus exclusive commitment of the Instrument Specialist. Contact the Director for current rates.

  2. Facility use must be scheduled with M. Sieracki/T. Cucci.

  3. Partial week or split-week will be considered only in the case where the experiments demand special consideration. Rates per sample can be arranged for routine types of samples.

  4. Should the instrument or laser fail during the scheduled work week, every effort will be made to remedy the problem within 24 hours and extend the schedule as necessary to complete the required analyses.

  5. When 24 hour experiments are planned, compensation time during that week will be provided.

  6. Off-site use:

    1. Investigator's laboratory - The BD FACScan flow cytometer is available for use in other laboratories. The instrument specialist would be present on site (instrument alone is not a rental). Cost would consist of the normal weekly fee plus transportation, and room and board for the instrument specialist.

    2. Cruises - The facility may be contracted out for research oceanographic cruises. This would include the instrument and instrument specialist. Cost would consist of the normal fee pro-rated for the number of days of the cruise plus travel days, plus transportation costs for instrument and instrument specialist.
