1.Facilities available: Cytometry building with image analysis/image cytometry lab and biochemical lab shared with flow cytometry group. GSF is a national research centre for ecological, medical and biological research.

2. Instrumentation:

Image cytometry: Diverse microscopes for light and fluorescence coupled with TV-cameras, digitizers and PC-controlled stages. Zeiss Confocal laser scanning microscope. Becton Dickinson CAS 200. Alcatel TITN SAMBA 2005.

Computer and Analyticals: VAX/VMS based computer network with several VMS and Unix workstations, X-terminals and PC's. Available software packages: IDL from Research Systems, Inc., Boulder CO 80308, SAS from SAS Institute, Inc., Cary NC 27513, BMDP from B MDP Statistical Software, Inc., Los Angeles CA 90025. Dedicated routines for image cytometry and high resolution image cytometry developed in our lab.

3. Specialization areas: Image cytometry. High resolution image analysis (chromatin structure, texture analysis), Clinical applications mostly in cancer detection, classification and prognosis.

4. Training Opportunities: Design, performance and evaluation of complete image analytical/cytometrical studies under supervision.

5. Special courses offered: None.

6. Graduate Program: None.

7.Local Accomodations: GSF guesthouse, 23 DM (distance 10 km). Boarding houses, 50-70 DM (distance10 km). Hotel Olympia Schiebanlage, 80 DM (distance 2 km). Hotel Regent, 150 DM (downtown). Prices are per day, including breakfast.

8. Transportation: Munich airport (35 km northwest of GSF, by bus). Central railway station (15 km, subway U6, bus).

9. Cost of Internships: Depends upon what studies are required. In general, for guests from non-profit research organisations only running expenses for specially needed requisites.
