Thanks for all the replies - I should have mentioned that the only two dyes we
use are TO for retics and PI for DNA and are ALWAYS cleaned out before running
fluorochromes.

In the meantime we've shown it to affect unstained & permeablised cells in the
same way.

I've a sneaking suspicion what it is and, if true, either Coulter or Caltag
should get a bit worried.

We'll follow it up on Saturday (the beginning of our week) and post the list if
anything interesting turns up.
