Thanks to all who have replied about running a FACScan and/or FACStar
PLUS using alternative hardware and software. Several of you asked
for a summary of the replies, so here you go...

The two companies mentioned the most were Cytomation and Applied
Cytometry Systems. While I didn't hear from anyone actually using the
Cytomation system, several suggested I check it out. If you are
interested, their Web Site is: http://linden.fortnet.org/~cytomate

Many people suggested checking with Applied Cytometry Systems (systems
sold through Phoenix Flow Systems in US). Those who were using their
system, WinFCM, seemed happy with the software and their interaction
with the company. For those interested, they have a Web Site at:
http://www.enterprise.net/appcysys.

Ann Buser from LUMINEX wrote about some software under development.
She can be reached at: annbuser@luminexcorp.com Her description is as
follows: "We have developed a system which can replace the HP: a PC
running Windows 95, board, and software for data acquisition from the
FACScan. The data is stored in both CSV format (for direct import to
spreadsheets) and FCS2.0 (for import to third-party programs such as
WINMDI or MFI)."

The only MAC suggestion was the Demo version of FCAP-List from Soft
Flow at 800-956-0100.

A few suggested WinList from Verity but I believe that is for analysis
only.

I don't have prices yet but I'll be looking into things further.
