Hi Gene,

Concerning your question, you can directly load Cellquest Data files into
WinMDI, no conversion is necessary if you transfer the files in binary
mode. The best way to transfer the files is to put an Ethernet card in the
PC and connect the PC to the Macs via Ethernet.

If you run Windows 95 on the PC I think there is no problem to just connect
both machines using Ethernet TCP/IP and use a program like Fetch to
transfer the data. If you want to be able to mount the MacDisks on the PC
to access data directly, you can use a program like "MacLanConnect" to
install a kind of "Chooser" on the PC so that people can connect to any Mac
on the network.

Another solution is to acquire the data directly on PC formated MO Disks or
ZIP Disks (I think that floppies are too expensive and slow), the PowerMac
is able to read and write these disk with the PC Exchange software that
comes with the MacOS. These cartidges can be directly read by a PC. However
you would of course need two drives, one on the PowerMac, the other on the
PC, so this is only a good solution if you need to buy a storage media
(like ZIP or MO disks).

I think therefore the network solution is by far the cheapest and easiest.
We have this kind of setup here and works great. This also allows you to
use the old data on the PC and convert it for Cellquest analysis if you
need to.

If you have more questions don't hesitate to ask me directly.

Cheers and a nice weekend,

Matthias
