OK Fellow Elite Users:
Yes, I finally did it! I upgraded to Windows 95. Yeah, I know, my Elite
software doesn't run in windows (and in Windows for Workgroups) but that was
OK. I just used to run it in DOS mode with WFW. Well, now when I try to
run it in the DOS mode in Windows 95, (after getting out of windows and
restarting in DOS mode), it starts out OK, but the fonts in the "menus" and
"buttons" look like some kind of weird language--not readable in other
words. Does anyone have any ideas how to cure this?
I think something is messed up on your Elite install or you are hurting on
RAM. We have been running all versions of ELITE and XL software under
Windows 3.1, Windows for Workgroups and WIN95 (not in aquisition mode,
however, I think it would work, except for WIN 95). For WIN 95 running of
ELITE, you have to check the DOS exclusive box (or something like that) in
the properties right mouse click properties for the shortcut. We use QEMM
7.5/8.0 as a memory manager with no problems under all the operating
systems. Your problem probably stems from not enough memory below 640K when
you run in DOS mode. WIN 95 willl load a bunch of dos drivers in dos mode
which you probably don't need (check dosstart.bat in your windows
directory). If this doesn't help, I do have some other suggestions.
Hope this helps
