For those people based in a hospital, cord blood specimens can be used
for this purpose. I know of several groups who have used this type of
sample for multi-site quality control surveys and have found it to be
fairly stable. Collecting the specimen is straightforward once you have
the permission of the case room nurse or whomever else might preside over
the placental specimen.
