Subject: Future prospects in Flow
>Some time ago I asked for peoples opinions of how flow cytometers and
>flow cytometric methods need to develop to make measurements on
>microorganisms easier / more widespread.
There are two main reasons why I initiated the Advanced Techniques in
Analytical Cytology section of the SPIE BIOS'96. The first is that flow
cytometry instrumentation could stand significant improvement. The most
obvious improvement is to build them as spectrographs. These type of
instrument improvements and software will be discussed. The second is the
exhibits at SPIE BIOS'96 have many of the parts required to build the next
generations of both flow cytometers and computer based microscopes.
