5 Fluorescence detectors on Facstar Plus

Hello and greetings to everyone from the most northern
flowcytometry lab in the world ( at 70 degrees north in
Tromso, Norway).

We have just got a triple laser BD Facstar plus installed in
our lab. The instrument is equipped with five fluorescence
detectors. To our surprise we discovered that we cannot use
more than four of them simultaneously ( if we want to detect
sidescatter as well).

As far as I can understand the instrument lacks the high
voltage power supply and control for the 5th. detector.

Does anyone know if any Facstar plus have been modified to
measure 5 fluorescence signals and SSC simultaneously???
If it have been done , was it the user or BD that did it????

I have been told that the new BD sorter (Vantage) will measure
five fluorescence detectors and SSC at the same time.

Does anyone know if this is true ????????
Have anyone heard BD talk about Facstar update kit to get
Vantage capabilities ???????

Any comment will be appreciated !!!!!!!!!!

Best regards

Per Prytz
