I need some help in sending flow results files via Ethernet.
We are in a new building and have finally got Ethernet installed --
only to find that the BD FACSnet program cannot address our
remote computers on the network because, I am told, our network
is complex and requires routing information and sub-addresses.
I know very little about Ethernet but the FACSnet program we
have in our HP340 computer has room only for a single address line
(xxx.xx.xx.xx) for the remote machine.

Any ideas???

The FACSNet software can address IP addressed that are not local, but the
router's IP address needs to be manually entered into the net.db file
located
in the SYSTEM: directory. This manual editing is done using the editor
which
is part of the operating system.

Typically, the net.db file contains the following two lines:

heha:1:1:[ETHER]000000000000::::
heha:1:1:[INTER]129.216.202.3:1:200:1500::

where the first line specifies the ethernet hardware address, and the
second line specifies the machines IP address along with timing/packet
information. To have the socket recognize a router, the following line
needs to be appended:

heha:1:1:[INTER]->129.216.202.205:::::

where the arrow (->) tells the software that the following IP address
is a router.

If you need help editing or configuring this, please feel free to call me.
